About British Rein Co
British Rein Co was founded with a simple purpose: to open the door to Britain’s most storied countryside traditions and make them accessible to riders who may not otherwise know how to get involved. We create thoughtfully curated equestrian weekends that blend exhilarating riding with the culture, heritage, and character of rural Britain. Our aim is not only to introduce guests to XC riding and trail hunting, but to do so in a way that is welcoming, supportive, and deeply respectful of the traditions and communities that sustain them.
At the heart of our experiences is a commitment to quality, comfort, and authenticity. From carefully matching each guest with a suitable hireling, to providing expert-led jump clinics and guided days in the field, every detail is designed to ensure riders feel confident, capable, and able to enjoy themselves at their own pace. Whether you are seeking a new challenge or simply looking to immerse yourself in the countryside, our weekends are tailored to balance enjoyment with opportunity for progression.
Beyond the riding, we are passionate about celebrating and supporting the wider rural way of life. Our itineraries are built around local partnerships—working with British farms, hireling yards, pubs, and countryside experts—to ensure that every element of your stay contributes to and reflects the communities we operate within. From traditional home-cooked meals made with locally sourced ingredients to cultural activities such as clay pigeon shooting, afternoon tea, and heritage crafts, each experience offers a meaningful connection to the landscape and its history.
Our accommodation is carefully chosen to provide both comfort and character, offering private rooms for rest alongside welcoming communal spaces to relax, share stories, and enjoy a drink by the fire after a full day. We believe it’s these moments—both in and out of the saddle—that create a truly memorable experience.
What is Modern British Trail Hunting?
Modern British trail hunting is a contemporary evolution of traditional mounted hunting, designed to preserve its structure, skills, and social heritage while following a pre-laid scent rather than live quarry. It retains many of the elements that define the tradition—riding across varied countryside, navigating natural obstacles, and working alongside hounds and fellow riders—while placing emphasis on horsemanship, land stewardship, and community. For many, it represents not only an exciting and challenging riding experience, but also a way to engage with a longstanding aspect of British rural culture in a considered and accessible manner.
